tokyo at dawn
out of the
slept, out of
the unslept
all-nighters,
not much
on that sky
Ener…..GY
of pale
over
packages
of house
cable strung
from poles
together,
sky of
colour
not much
against
much,
stars
hidden
comic readers
on their
last page
out
,
what you
pick up
between
two sticks
out of a
bowl
not much
out of
much,
in that
sky
colour
all Ener…..GY
over rails
at suburban
crossings
the signals
standing,
roman
legion
‘signum’
with its discs
of sounding
lights,
Energyyyyyyyyyyyyy
in sky,
in human
voice the
shouted
“good mornings”
“Ohayo;”
enough
to start
the earth
swinging
under step,
much out
of the
not much
of dawn,
sky
spare
planting
of
colour
in
Eeeeeeeeeeeeenergy
at
tips of
hair
and
heels
