foreboding

foreboding

 july 2021
located in uncertainty

foreboding
..was balanced on the calm…. image by the Weathercats

a
pōhutukawa
leaf
was
balanced
on calm
before a
storm
that
happened
off the
cuff
the forecasters
had drawn
it right off
the map
more likely
a high
they said
with certain
ease

that
leaf
sang the
proverb
onward
a leathery
seraphim
in swirling
down the
hidden
stairs,
criss-crossing
the dust with
its dry nib
on this fire
escape
that was no
way
out
the forecasters
burned up
like
unwatered
house
plants
useless
in the
conflagration
no-one said
would
come

The music is from a performance by Ensemble intercontemporain of Toru Takemitsu’s ‘Rain Coming’ for chamber orchestera.  A careful listening may also locate Little Cat’s purring at the bottom spectrum of sounds, especially at the beginning & closing.
