king tide

this
bright
morning
on the blue
playground
the only
shadows
where trees
edge the tide,
in the brief
troughs of waves,
where the hull
and sail lean
and under
the swimmer’s
arm

The music is from ‘Au bord d’une source’ (Beside a Spring) from ‘Années de pèlerinage. Première année: Suisse, S. 160’ by Franz Liszt, interpreted here by André Laplante
‘under the swimmer’s arm’ is a nice image of solitary immersion

Hockney does water so well, so simply; I’m thinking of a half dozen examples it might be
