by her eyes

youth
that feather
on a morning
tide told me
i would know
the woman
of the
estuary
acquiescent
only to
the moon,
know her
by her
lip,
know her
by her eyes,
two leaves
two boats
in dusk
two olives
gathered
among the lemons
on white cloth
shall her eyes
be, their core
wherein you
touch her
warmth,
dark as
olives in
their brine,
her lip
the bow that
cupid strings
with smile
to slip
through
any wall,
the sun
will touch
her
hesitant
and you will
know yourself
at joy in
seeing it
shy upon her
face,
its grace
abroad the
evening
where she
wraps herself
to show you
less that
you desire
