the eye
made new
through the night.
a fine morning
finer than finest
green eyes at me
a young grey cat
pacing up and down
along the top of the
wooden fence
can’t get down
feeling the stroke
of the blue intense

sometimes i look
up into the blue
that seems to
give way into
hints of
darkness
feel
my legs
unsteady
in that moment
there is nothing
beyond that
blue like a sail
taking us onward
into our days
and the dark
reefs at the
edge of
evening.

blackbird
thrush mark
out their
lands of song
with clear
stones and
dark streams
of voice each
jointed to
the other
sweetly
arguing the
divide of
sky
before it
caves in
under night
and star
